2020 finalists announced

Twenty-four applicants across eight categories have been shortlisted for the 2020 SEAI Energy Awards. The annual awards recognise and reward excellence in sustainable energy in large and small business, communities, research, buildings, renewables and the public sector. We will announce the Winners in the coming weeks at a very special online broadcast event. Some of our finalists include Danone Wexford, SOLA Energy Solutions, Glasport Bio, Ervia Business Services, Energia and Astellas.

€28 million to support 39 community energy projects

SEAI Community Energy Grant Scheme

Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan TD announced 39 community projects who who were offered €28 million government grant funding under the SEAI administered Community Energy Grant Scheme. The grants will support projects with a total investment of almost €74 million. This investment will deliver energy upgrades to nearly 1,500 homes and community and commercial buildings throughout the country.

Decarbonisation of the Public Sector

50% improvement in energy efficiency by 2030

Irish public bodies have been working towards a target of 33% improvement in energy efficiency by 2020. The national climate policy context is changing, and the Climate Action Plan 2019 set ambitious targets for the public sector to improve their energy efficiency by 50% and reduce CO2-equivalent emissions by 30%, in absolute terms, by 2030. The Climate Action Plan also put in place a decarbonisation pathway towards a net zero target in Ireland by 2050. Short survey on decarbonisation

Closing date October 6th

SEAI are supporting the Department of Business Enterprise and Innovation (DBEI) with a study into the decarbonisation of business and industry in Ireland. As part of this study DBEI have asked us to collect some information on low carbon technologies from our network. Please take the time to complete the survey (link below). The study will help inform policy decisions for supporting various technical solutions across business and industry in the coming years. It would be great to get your input.
